THE HISTORY

Beginning in the 1880's, the historic neighborhood surrounding 13th street known as "Little Bohemia" was home to a very concentrated population of Czech immigrants. The Prague Hotel, Bohemian Cafe, Sokol Auditorium, and St. Wenceslaus Church became valuable institutions in the community.

Built in 1895, The Bohemian Gardens originated as a Czechoslovakian dance hall before being converted to a popular restaurant and bar. In 1993 the property was purchased by an artist and home renovator who transformed the building into a home and the parking lot into a 5,000 sq. foot garden. Located in the heart of Omaha between the Old Market, Little Italy, and the Henry Doorly Zoo, the Gardens are a getaway right here in Omaha.
